Backpacker Holiday Gift Guide: Gifts for the Solo Female Traveler

Start with a Bag.

Osprey Aura 50 Backpack
Every backpacker needs a backpack! And girls on the go need a big one. With all the clothes, makeup, and supplies we need, that backpack needs to be big and it needs to be cute. Surprise that solo female traveler in your life with a new backpack, perfect for her next adventure! This Osprey one is totes perfect. 50 liters is still on the small side, but who can resist the cute purple color this Aura backpack comes in!

What’s in that bag?

Aroamas Solid Travel Perfume Stick
Let’s face it: backpackers stink. They sweat, they don’t shower, and they are bombarded with gross scents from markets and local restaurants everywhere. Being constantly in close quarters in a hostel room or overnight bus leads to some pretty smelly situations. No girl, no matter where she is in the world, wants to smell. Perfume sticks are a great gift for the solo female traveler: they don’t take up much room in her bag, aren’t in glass bottles that could shatter all over her stuff, and keep her smelling good.

Something to wear.

“Life is a Journey” Silver Necklace
All girls like jewelry and if you’re stuck for a gift, necklaces are a safe bet. Show that solo female traveler in your life that you care with a necklace that displays what she’s all about: travel. A necklace with a compass or a saying like “life is a journey” is the perfect accessory for the girl who lives to travel.

Something to read.

Eat, Pray, Love: One Woman’s Search for Everything Across Italy, India and Indonesia
Eat, Pray, Love is the quintessential novel for any aspiring female traveler. Can you imagine leaving everything behind to travel in Europe, India, and Asia when you’re like totes old? I can’t believe I’m going to travel as a young and fresh 22 year old! If you know a female who wants to travel but isn’t sure she can, get her this book for Christmas. After reading it, she’ll definitely be inspired to go!

Splurge a little.

Panasonic LUMIX GX7 DSLM Camera
Every traveler needs a camera. How else are we going to take selfies at the Taj Mahal or make all of our friends back home jealous when we’re longing in the white sand of Boracay. A Panasonic LUMIX camera is a perfect gift for any traveler. It’s smaller and lighter than a DSLR but takes way better photos than a regular old point and shoot or your iPhone.

How about a trip?

Just because she’s traveling alone, doesn’t mean she wants to always be alone! Send your solo female traveler on a group tour with G Adventures: Africa, Asia, Europe… it doesn’t matter where, she wants to see it all!

Something Fun!

Luckies of London Scratch Map – Deluxe Edition
Travelers love to tell you where they’ve been. So why not let her show it! A scratch map is a great piece of art for the solo female traveler stuck at home. She can scratch off all the places she’ve been and dream of all the places she still wants to go.
