My Favorite Resources for ‘Round the World Trip Planning

THIS POST CONTAINS AFFILIATE LINKS FROM WHICH WE MIGHT MAKE A COMMISSION.

Zach and I are planning a ’round the world trip after we graduate college! I’m so excited because I just got my first passport and have never been out of America before! Zach is all, “been there done that,” and doesn’t think we need to plan anything. “Just buy a ticket and show up,” he says. What? I can’t just show up somewhere without knowing where I’m staying or what to do there or knowing anything at all! So I’m the one who has to do all the planning. I mentioned in my last post that I bought a few guidebooks to start planning from. But I have a whole list of other resources. I thought I’d pull together a list of my favorite resources for ’round the world trip planning because I’m sure there are others like me who have no idea how to start!

Websites

Twenty-Something Travel
I love Twenty-Something Travel because I’m a twenty-something! And I want to travel! Stephanie’s website is full of all kinds of great tips for people who want to travel all the time!

Nomadic Matt
Matt has traveled more than Zach and Zach is the most traveled person I know. His website is full of tips on how to travel better. Which I need to know because I have no idea how to travel! LOL

BackpackerBanter.com
Chris is a surfer and a beach bum who always seems to be doing something crazy. He is living. the life. And I hope our RTW trip is as full of parties and sand as his is!

BootsnAll
This website has all kinds of articles about planning a ’round the world trip AND they have a 30-day email program with tons of prompts to help you prepare. I have them all and I will totes get to them (I’m a slacker, remember? LOL) but from what I’ve seen and done so far they are great help for planning!

Buzzfeed Travel
Buzzfeed Travel is the ultimate travel porn. All the articles are inspiring for places to see and why everyone should travel. I scroll through every day to get ideas of the coolest places in the world.

Books

101 Places to Get F*cked Up Before You Die: The Ultimate Travel Guide to Partying Around the World
I’m just coming back to school after spring break and I can’t wait to travel around the world because traveling around the world is going to be a year-long spring break! It’s going to be all party all the time and this book tells you where in the world the best parties are at!

Off Track Planet’s Travel Guide for the Young, Sexy, and Broke
I’m young! I’m sexy! I’m broke! This is the perfect guide for where to get a tattoo to commemorate the trip (O-M-G!) to where the best clubs are to where street art is.

How to Travel the World on $50 a Day: Travel Cheaper, Longer, Smarter
This is a book from Nomadic Matt and it shows you how to travel on the cheap, which I totes need because I have hardly any money saved for my RTW trip! I can’t wait to read this. The description says that people think it costs a lot of money to travel — and I think it will cost a lot of money to travel! Hopefully this book will teach me how to cut my expenses!

Movies

A Map for Saturday
Zach made me watch this one night our freshman year and it’s one of the movies that inspired me to see the world. It was about a guy who quit his job and he traveled everywhere in the world for a year. Just like we are going to do! (Except we’re not quitting jobs, we’re graduating from school.) I don’t normally like watching documentaries, but this one wasn’t boring.

Eurotrip
I had to include this. Another movie Zach made me watch (I won’t include that he also made me watch Hostel because that movie does NOT inspire anyone to travel). This is what our RTW trip will be like! Drinking, debauchery, falling in love (NOT with each other LOL!)! It’s going to be an epic adventure.

What are your favorite resources for ’round the world trip planning? Have I missed anything? Do you have a resource to add to my list?
